Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a very exciting traditional holiday in Taiwan. It usually happens in June when the weather gets hot. This festival has many famous stories, especially the story of a brave poet named Qu Yuan.

On this day, the most famous activity is the Dragon Boat Race. Many teams get together on the river. They paddle very fast and hit loud drums to win the race. It is very fun to watch!

Families also enjoy special traditions at home. We eat Zongzi, which are delicious sticky rice dumplings wrapped in leaves. We also hang herbs like mugwort on our doors to keep away bad luck and stay healthy. Some children wear colorful sachets that smell sweet. At exactly 12:00 noon, many people try to stand an egg on the floor for good luck. It is a wonderful day for family and tradition!
